It’s seems like an evening of entertainment with my friends often involves a movie, trying a new restaurant, or celebrating someone’s birthday or another special occasion at the latest nightspot. But what about when you want to do something different? Will your friends be open to changing up the same old routine? If yes, then look below and note 3 creative and fun affordable Girls Night Out ideas.
1) Participate in an art workshop and paint something fun.
Sign up for an art party that allows you to showcase your inner artist or sharpen your paintbrush skills. In Chicago, there are local chains such as Bottle and Bottega that will allow you and your group to attend a workshop or host a private event in their space. The fee range for a public workshop begins at $35 and typically includes supplies, an apron, and instruction. I attended an art party a few years ago and we were allowed to bring a bottle of wine and food. There are also independent groups such as SkyArts in Chicago that host art workshops or they will even come to your space and bring this entertainment through unique and culturally relevant art themes.
2) Have a potluck dinner at someone’s house.
Ask everyone to bring one of their favorite food dishes and/or drinks that they make or that they purchase from a food spot that they like to frequent. Manage the list so the menu is diverse and ask guests not to spend more than $40. The evening could include dinner, dessert, and conversation. Instead of just general conversation, it would be cool to create a box of pre-written questions that people randomly select and answer. The box would be passed around and each person would read it and give their thoughts. It wouldn’t exactly be truth or dare, but more creative scenarios that allow guests to let their hair down. For example, a question may be, “If your life were a movie, what would the title be and what Hollywood actor/actress would play you?”
3) Go thrifting.
Why not spend an early evening thrift hopping and pick up some fashionable vintage pieces? Keep in mind that thrifting requires going to the right stores, activating your creative imagination, and being open-minded. Do a little research and find 3-5 reputable shops in your city that flow with your fashion vibe. You and your girls can challenge yourselves to find and coordinate at least 1 complete outfit under $50 by the end of the shopping trip. The key is to design a look that captures your personality, yet sets you apart…because well, is it possible to have 2 identical vintage outfits? I don’t think so.
Of course this Girls Night Out would not be complete without capturing the moment in photography. If you want to make the night truly memorable, give your evening a special hashtag and share highlights on social media. Make sure you have any apps already downloaded before your event begins. Boriqua Chicks loves uploading minute-by-minute event highlights on our Instagram channel. We have conveniently downloaded the Instagram app to our Cricket Wireless Samsung Galaxy S4 phones. Once your technology is in tow, click away and create a virtual photo album of your awesome night using the designated hashtag.
