If you follow Boriqua Chicks on social media, then you probably already know we recently attended the Marc Anthony concert last weekend at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. Before I can tell you how amazing the concert was, I must share that we were actually able to meet him and take a photo with him (see below). Thanks to the Illinois Lottery Anything’s Possible® Music Series, we were able to go backstage before his concert and we sat in the VIP section, just a few rows from the stage—truly the best concert tickets we’ve ever had! Check out our highlights from the concert below.
It was raining on Saturday in Chicago, but that didn’t seem to stop anyone from going to Marc Anthony’s concert that evening. The arena was completely packed. While people rushed to find their seats and experience Marc Anthony live, our night began with a small group of people who waited near the side entrance for him to arrive. Once he arrived, we were escorted downstairs by his team and told to place our purses in a special area. We had been given strict instructions that there would be a photographer; so no pulling out phones or cameras to snap our own pics. That was fine with Boriqua Chicks; a professional photo with a salsa legend is cool by us!
As we waited in the meet & greet line, another young lady, not a part of our immediate group asked if I could use her cell phone to take a photo. I politely told her that was not happening. I wasn’t about to let anything stop us from having a flawless night. Lol! As Raquel and I waited in line, we talked to others in our group, who were also super excited to meet Marc Anthony. A few more minutes passed. Then suddenly, we were at the front of the line and it was time for our photo.
(cue the music…) I said, “Hi, Marc” and shook his hand. He placed his hand on my back and then we took the group photo. I told him I was looking forward to his concert. Then before we could walk away, he smiled and said, “Get ready to dance!” I smiled and nodded YES and Boriqua Chicks walked upstairs.
The arena was dark and a good-looking band was building up the momentum. Everyone in the venue was on their feet waiting to experience Marc Anthony live. Literally, moments after we found our seats–which were super close to the stage–Marc Anthony appeared and began almost 2 hours of non-stop singing and dancing. With every song, he poured his heart and soul into each verse. He spoke to the audience and kept everyone entertained and moving. Throughout the concert he checked in with the crowd and asked, “¿Chicago, pasando bien?” When everyone said yes, he told us to get up and move!
This was our first Marc Anthony concert and it was a night to remember!
