It’s been a while since we’ve posted…Raquel and I have been living life and took an unofficial break from the blog. Sometimes it’s good to just break away from social media and rest your mind, body, and soul.
Within the last few years the media space has become increasingly saturated with content about Afro-Latinx. From random social media channels that share misinformation, to disingenuous publications that recycle the same material for clicks, it’s become more important to be as authentic as possible.
During our hiatus, we’ve had to consider how we can really be true to our brand and purpose. Everyone has different reasons for launching and sustaining their platforms. For us, as it stands today, we realize our purpose is to be a voice in our community—whether it be highlighting Chicago, Afro-Latinx, or Puerto Ricans.
Thank you to those who have been rocking with us since day one and to those who have connected with us in more recent years; we appreciate your support. Our commitment from this point forward is to use our platform to share what we CARE about and what MOVES us—which might not be what the masses are chatting about.
In the spirit of staying true to our purpose and letting the voices of our peoples ring true, we’re back and still unapologetically BLACK.
Peace, Love, & Light to you.
Rebecca
