…and the meaning behind the name
BORICUA: Boricua is another term for Puerto Rican; it is a variation derived from the indigenous Taíno name for the island. Since the blog offers a fresh and urban perspective, the slang version of Boricua was selected, which is Boriqua. While Raquel was brainstorming names with her sister Rebecca, they came up with Boriqua Chicks. Raquel and Rebecca are of Puerto Rican heritage. They weren’t born on the island, but they are Boricua de corazón. They are the Boriqua Chicks.
